Everyone of us at the time needed a screen saver or two on their computer because of the risk of burning in an image into the glass. You could tell that happens if the image was left on the screen was left for a long time. Perhaps the most famous screen savers mentionable are Flying Windows, Floating Stars ETC. Windows 3.1 included these screen savers for your protection. Additionally there was the introduction of commercial screen saver software for sale where screen savers often came as a demo and its features and options were limited unless you pay a registration fee. When I was a child, I remember these shareware disks you could purchase for $4.99 to demo stuff out. At the time, Shareware was confusing on its concept to me, they actually wanted you to stop using the software after X amount of days, but at the time, My first computer a Packard Bell 486/SX 25MHZ with 4MB ram. and did not have the Internet in case some software would phone home to tell its master I used their software for more then that time :P
Today's software being offered allows you to create your own screen savers and add special effects. Now... I don't know about you but I remember downloading several screen savers in my life where they were restricted by a screen saver maker program and you got all the images of the screen saver if you registered it. This seems for more personal use then commercial.
One thing that I should note, that additional features such as add on packs must be paid for, something which makes the base app seem quite limited. But since this is a Giveaway its idea was to get our feet wet with this program hoping we purchase a full license and add on packs. It seems many programs out there from well known companies, EG Picasa from Google, allows you to build screen savers with your photos, and so does the Windows Picture Screen Saver. And one is included with Windows, the other is an easy download. ITS FREE.
